Prize Winning Gardens 2009

In 2004 Böd Ayre Products Ltd started the first Shetland-wide gardening competition. Although there are a number of local gardening competitions, there was nothing prior to this point giving recognition for good gardening throughout the isles. We really enjoy supporting and celebrating the efforts of Shetland's gardeners.

Our other competition years:

Best Established Garden

  • Eyvor Renwick - First prize

    Norwick Cottage, Uyeasound, Unst

When travelling up to Uyeasound to see the garden that the judges had chosen as the winner of the Best Established Garden, I did not know what to expect - but when we arrived, it really did take my breath away - so lovely - so much achieved since 2000 - with such great ideas.  A real pleasure to the eye - worth a visit!!

As well as a keepsake trophy, Eyvor received some of our Organic Seaweed Plant Foods

  • Adam Leslie - Second prize

    Lindaal, Tingwall, Shetland

Really lovely, with so much colour - the judges did have a hard decision re. the winner and runner-up, with only 1 point between them!  This garden is a delight to see - and worth a visit too!

It is such a pleasure to see such beauty and colour, and what can be achieved in our windswept islands!

As well as a keepsake trophy, Adam received some of our Organic Seaweed Plant Foods.

Best New Garden

  • Sarah Kay - First prize

    Highlands, East Voe, Scalloway

Sarah has achieved a lot so far.  There is still much to do, but a beautiful setting, with lovely ideas and being very exposed too, so is hard work.  This garden, too, is worth a visit - and as well as the garden being a real treat to the eye, so is the view!!

As well as a keepsake trophy, Sarah received some of our Organic Seaweed Plant Feeds.

  • John & Sandra Robertson - Second prize

    Holmlea, Mid Yell, Shetland

John and Sandra's new garden is really nice - most of the plants have been brought on in their green house, including all the hanging baskets.  We liked the raised beds of vegetables incorporated into the garden.  Well worth a visit.

As well as a keepsake trophy, John and Sandra received some of our Organic Seaweed Plant Feeds.
